Andrea and Mike : Stillwater Engagement Photographs

Andrea is perhaps one of the most excited-about-life people that I’ve met in a long while; she just oozes happiness.  One can’t blame her, she’s marrying a really cool guy who happens to also be a professional ‘balla’  (okay, that’s as thug as I get).   Then again, he’s quite the lucky guy as well…

We snuck in an engagement session this fall before they had to leave Minnesota.  She had to head out east for school and he had to head to Europe to “rain three’s”  (though, I must admit, only speaking English makes it hard to follow how he’s doing… but looks like he’s doing great)  Feeling adventurous, we took a bit of a trip of discovery, just deciding to drive north from Stillwater until we found something cool.  The unplanned sometimes brings the coolest stuff…

I’m really excited for their wedding next summer.  It’ll be interesting to see how wedding planning goes via skype. 😉

Alyssa and Mark: Engagement Photographs

Alyssa, Mark and I went for a walk around the Cathedral – Summit area of St. Paul – I brought my camera. 😉   Alyssa is actually getting ready in the Blair Arcade on their wedding day, so it was cool to get that sneak peak.

It was an overcast day (love the overcast) that had me both laying in the street (not the greatest idea when things are wet…) and climbing trees.  Don’t tell the St. Paul park patrol.

Mel and Eddie: Engagement Photographs

Mel and Eddie had their engagement session near the shores of Lake Harriet in Minneapolis (which happens to be the same place they got engaged… fancy that. hehe).   We basically just walked down a bike path for most of the time; with all the people around it was a perfect place to get over the ‘big camera in your face’ jitters…. and, of course, we got some cool images to boot!

Eddie brought an old-school Schwinn bike; it was pretty much awesome.  So we basically had ourselves a fun little three-way engagement shoot…

Contrary to rumor, the bike did not get jealous. 🙂

Kristin and John

Kristin and John flew in from Virginia last Thursday, got some paperwork out of the way, ran some errands, and still had time to get out to Como park (looking strangley like fall) for an engagement shoot and to nail down some details.  Tireless, they are.   I’d yet to meet them in person, so it was nice to see how happy, kind, and into each other they were.

Kristin eventually got around to working the rockstar look (below) amongst many other fun faces… *inside joke*, and I’m pretty sure that John could beat me up with nothing but a hard stare…  We had a good time and got some fun images as well.  I can’t wait for their smaller, intimate wedding coming up in July.

Whirlwind Weekend.

My most fun engagement shoot of the year on Friday… Some more fun wedding photography on Saturday for a college friend… and I’m two minutes late leaving to canoe the boundary waters for a week.  Suffice it to say, only time for one picture… I’ll post more when I get back.

This was one of the first images from the engagement session, and from the moment the shutter tripped, I knew it was golden:

Kara and Ryan – Engagment Session

Met up with Kara and Ryan last Wednesday for some ‘get used to the camera’ time.

Ryan likes to goof around, Kara likes to laugh… it’s a good pairing.  We practiced dipping, laughed a bunch, talked shop, and all around had a good time.  Oh, and we made some images too…

I like these last two all-the-more for the fact that they didn’t know I was taking them. Catchin’ the laughin’ and the smoochin’…. which really isn’t too hard with this couple.  Can’t wait for the wedding!.

Sunday on Summit, Part 2

Rachel and Tom At the Cathedral in St Paul

There is this same image with more of the Cathedral (of St. Paul), but the sky was just so staggeringly beautiful on this day, with the capital hanging out in the background – this image captures the day a bit more for me.  When their wedding goes down in about a month, there will be plenty of ‘church’ shots to go around.  Let the sky have it’s day. ;0)

The happy couple

There Is a story behind this image… lets just leave it at that.

Rachel and Veil

Rachel’s veil reveal… everyone agreed, it’s a good’un.

 Tom - The Groom

Tom is a fun guy.  I do believe this might have been a Jump-out-of-the-car, see me, and scream, “hey take my picture” first-shot of the day.  But it actually captured his mood throughout the session quite well.  Good times.

Incidentally, this is the first of my new 750-pixel wide blog photos.  I’ve revamped the blog to hold them nicely.  Bigger image = Better.

Rachel and Tom

Just an impromptu shot of the happy couple after leaving their reception site.  It’s an old mansion on Summit ave in St. Paul, just a block down from the Cathedral.  It’s going to be a really good time.
